A wall calendar, iOS and Android app using Augmented Reality Technology
RESULT
At first glance, you see what appears to be a regular wall calendar. But that's not the case... When you open the first page, you see a QR code and a link to download a special app for your smartphone either from the AppStore, or from GoogleMarket, depending on your smartphone brand. Open the app, hang the calendar on the wall, then look at the calendar through your smartphone and...see how paper comes to life and basically turns into the thinnest TV set in the world. Enjoy stunning videos about backstage life of the modern airport! You can walk around the room, do squats, bend your body, but the video will play right in the calendar page. It's magic!
How We Did It?
12 months – 12 original videos, each dedicated to a certain airport service. At first you get captivated by the calendar's technological gimmicks, but later you immerse in the video stories, as they are really state-of-the-art. We used two cameras for this project: a high end digital camera RED DRAGON, and an action camera GoPro. Both were fixed in turns on the luggage, buildings, airport transport, tools, and on service dogs that detect explosives. We even put a mini camera inside the packing machine that seals airline meal containers. This crazy idea could have come to a bad end for the camera but we went for it. We visited all airport facilities and explored every corner to find angles that had been never shot before, hidden from an average passenger. We did it all to create 12 dramatic stories that show how exciting behind-the-scenes life at the airport gets while you are drinking your coffee, unaware, and waiting for the boarding. All this work is hidden from the eyes but it is important for our safety and comfort.
